The outdoor classroom and adjacent growing area will offer a secure learning base for children, young people and their families to learn about food, farming and the outdoors. The classroom will be a self-contained learning space resourced with equipment and guided learning packs that will be linked to each of the external learning zones. Teachers and staff will be provided with everything they need to run an appropriate activity linked to the season, year group and ability of the children. The classroom will also have fully accessible toilets, a kitchen area and storage for coats and wellies! There will also be limited parking available for a minibus and two cars.
The classroom will be used as part of the programme of Guided Farm Visits but soon this will be extended to small targeted groups who will be able to book and make independent use of the classroom and outside learning area. Staff will be expected to attend a full induction programme before they book the classroom. Further details about the induction programme and independent group bookings will be made available to schools and services later this year.
