Health Protection Agency Guidance on Infection Control in Schools and other Child Care Settings:

 

This document offers guidance on the most common infectious diseases and the recommended periods for which children should be kept away from school or nursery.

Taking preventative measures such as vaccinating children and following good hygiene practice are the best ways to prevent the spread of infections.

This booklet provides general guidance for schoolteachers and others with children in their  care on the prevention and control of infectious diseases.

The advice applies to schools and any other care settings e.g. nurseries, playgroups and child-minders. “School” will be used throughout to indicate all these areas; except where otherwise indicated.
