Universal Infant Free School Meals Update

Somerset’s Draft Strategy

To support the introduction of Universal Infant Free School Meals in September, Somerset County Council has been working on a draft strategy to help implementation across the county.

The strategy has three elements:

  • Ensure schools have the kitchen equipment to serve meals
  • Ensure schools have access to suppliers who can provide them with school meals
  • Develop an effective way of working for each school to enable the meals to add value to the school offer and encourage a healthier lifestyle

Leaflet to Parents/Carers

Somerset County Council is producing a Universal Infant Free School Meals leaflet for parents and carers with information and guidance on how to register for a school meal. These will be distributed to schools in June.
