In 2020 Somerset launched its SUGAR SMART campaign, calling on schools to take action to help reduce the amount of sugar we all consume.
Most of us eat too much sugar. There are surprisingly large amounts lurking in everyday foods and drinks. Whilst how much sugar we consume is ultimately down to individuals, the role of the environment we live in is hugely influential.
SUGAR SMART is a campaign of Jamie Oliver and Sustain to help local areas across the UK to tackle excessive sugar consumption. A vital part of SUGAR SMART UK is encouraging a multi sector approach with local businesses, organisations and residents involved. Recognising the importance of this campaign, SUGAR SMART is now an integral part of the Lifestyle pillar in the Somerset Wellbeing Framework.
